We have recently become aware of an email scam mentioning our organisation. We have seen an email in which the sender offers a sale of KCSC data such as training attendees/registrants. The sender appears to be from an organisation called Business Box S.
We do not believe there is any threat to the security of our data, and we are confident in the security of our IT systems. We are checking in with our IT solutions team to make sure that we are not neglecting any aspect of our security. We want to make it very clear that we do not have any reason to believe our training attendees/registrant information or any other data we hold is at risk.
We have reported both emails to the National Cyber Security Centre.
This scam has also targeted partner organisations in other boroughs.
We are highlighting this scam as a reminder to please practice good IT security, and be careful opening e-mails from any sender you do not know. Any e-mail you receive that claims to offer a sale of our data is a scam and should be reported and categorised as junk mail. Make sure you do not click on any links in any such email.
