Grants of up to £1,000 and/or volunteering support are available to voluntary and community organisations in Kensington and Chelsea. The funding is for projects that support local people who are forced to rely on emergency food aid, including food banks, school meal programmes, and other food security initiatives.
Who Can Apply
Small and locally managed voluntary, community groups with proven experience in providing food support in Kensington and Chelsea are eligible to apply.
Groups must meet the following criteria:
- Have a set of written rules or a constitution.
- Have a bank account registered in the group’s name.
- Adhere to a child protection policy and a vulnerable people's policy if working with children or vulnerable adults.
- Have an equalities policy in place.
Eligible Expenditure
Grants can be used for projects tackling food poverty in Kensington and Chelsea. There is a particular interest in funding groups and organisations that:
- Work to address the root causes of food poverty, for example through cash first initiatives, advice and wraparound services to meet people’s wider needs.
- Are aligned with the four core principles of dignified food support recommended by Alliance for Dignified Food Support.
- Operate within communities where Capital Property is operating.
Examples of potential projects include:
- Healthy, affordable food - providing easy access to nutritious food and balanced meals for people with a limited budget.
- Young people - supporting future generations by prioritising the wellbeing of children and young people struggling with food insecurity.
- Culturally appropriate food – providing easy access to affordable, nutritious food that reflects the cultural diversity of the communities you serve.
