Shelina's professional background is in international development working with marginalised and vulnerable communities to secure and safeguard their economic, social and cultural protection on a range of thematic concerns through research, capacity building and advocacy initiatives at the supranational and national levels. Inherent to this work is an emphasis on non-discrimination, inclusion, social justice and equity; concerns which she has also brought to bear in her academic interests in global education policy.
Shelina's voluntary commitments and undertakings in the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea are long standing predominantly through her association with Kensington & Chelsea Citizens Advice where she has been a trustee for eight years - currently as Deputy Chair of the Board of Trustees - and, since Spring 2020, with KCSC.
