RBKC's Clinical Team will be facilitating a Non-Violent Resistance (NVR) Group for parents and carers, starting on Thursday, 13 February 2025, 10.30am at Chelsea Old Town Hall.
NVR aims to support parents and carers in developing strategies to resist challenging or harmful behaviours while also repairing any breakdowns in their relationships with their children. This approach empowers parents to regain a sense of parental presence and equips them with tools to regulate their emotions, enabling them to respond to their children in a more attuned way and avoiding escalations.
NVR is particularly beneficial for parents and carers who are managing aggressive, destructive, controlling, isolating, risk-taking, or threatening behaviours from their children.
The group will start with an introductory workshop on Thursday, 13 February. This workshop will provide parents with an overview of NVR and its core principles, allowing them to make an informed decision about whether this approach is suitable for their needs at this time. The full programme has been condensed into six 90-minute sessions.
Referrals to the NVR programme are via an Early Help Practitioner or Social Worker.
