The Mayor has announced a major extension of the ULEZ scrappage scheme. From Monday 21 August 2023 every Londoner with a car or motorcycle that doesn’t meet the ULEZ standards will be eligible to apply for a £2,000 grant (or £1,000 for a motorcycle) to scrap their vehicle.
Grants for vans, minibuses, wheelchair accessible vehicles and retrofits have also increased. From 21 August 2023 sole traders and small businesses will be able to scrap or retrofit up to three vehicles. Charities are already able to scrap or retrofit three vehicles. The ULEZ is expanding across all London boroughs on 29 August 2023.
