Following our last ‘A Fairer Place’ Cost of Living Event held in May this year, KCSC will be holding its next Assembly. It will focus on how we can improve meeting the needs of residents through connecting better together across information, advice and guidance services and wider voluntary and community sector services. The assembly will run training workshops in areas that aim to strengthen collaboration and gather insights that will help shape future developments.
There will be a formal introduction to the Advice Partnership as well as discussions about the role of partnerships and how the Advice Partnership can work with the VCS and Statutory sectors.
Workshops at the event will cover:
- Immigration advice and support - This workshop will update participants on the work North Kensington Law Centre delivers to support people seeking immigration advice specifically on the following matters - termination/expiry of Biometric Resident cards, E-Visas and online account creation.
- Universal Credit migration - This interactive workshop will explain what the changes mean for clients who are currently claiming 'legacy benefits' that will be replaced by Universal Credit. There will be a discussion on what action those clients need to take and in what timeframes, as well as the potential hurdles to receiving their first Universal Credit payment.
- Making use of Plinth as a referral tool - This workshop will provide voluntary and community organisations with the knowledge of how to use Plinth as a referral tool to refer residents to advice agencies for further support
- Where should the provision of advice be? - This workshop will provide the opportunity for workshop participants to discuss the best places for reaching residents to provide advice.
Actions from the previous assembly can be found here. Full agenda to follow.
This meeting is for representatives of local voluntary and community organisations operating in the borough of Kensington & Chelsea. It is not open to members of the public.
