Join us for this online webinar to hear how they have brought their lived experiences to the table within local organisations. Panellists will share their thoughts on the value of bringing diverse experiences, knowledge, insight and wisdom into spaces where decisions are made. Find out about the challenges and pitfalls they have encountered, and how these might be avoided or overcome. You will also have the opportunity to ask your own questions to the panel.
Panellist & Facilitator Bios:
Toby Laurent Belson is a multidisciplinary community artist, designer and educator, born and raised in West London. He was a Portobello market trader for 8 years, a local school governor for 8 years, and has held Director and Trustee positions at a variety of local charities and social enterprises. He has campaigned to protect and improve several local assets and organisations and advocates widely for institutions to value lived experience and remove barriers to participation and diverse leadership.
Moska Saidy is the Project Lead at Mutual Aid KC, a regular clothes bank for refugees and asylum seekers who live in London. She is the daughter of refugees, and her parents have been an important influence and are heavily involved in the organisation. They often talk about their experiences, and what they wish would have been done differently - having access to a clothes bank, which also acts as a community space, is just one facet of this. Moska also works at the Volunteer Centre Kensington & Chelsea.
Eunicia Harding (Nicia) is the founder of Rise Kids CIO, established in 2017 after the Grenfell Tower Tragedy. She is also Vice Chair of Treagold House Residents’ Association and sits on many steering groups and committees in the community, including the K&C Together steering group (KCSC), the Curve Legacy Committee, and the GPF2 Panel. Nicia is a long-term resident and parent with extensive knowledge of the area. She currently works at both Wand UK and The Grenfell Wellbeing Centre.
Judith Davey (Facilitator) is CEO of The Advocacy Project (which also hosts Healthwatch in the bi-borough). Judith – and the organisations that she leads – prioritises putting lived experience at the heart of everything. She was named as one of the ten most inspiring CEO’s of 2021. She is also independent Chair of the Methodist Church’s Safeguarding Board.
This session is open to representatives of local voluntary and community organisations operating in the borough of Kensington & Chelsea, as well as residents of the borough.
