Public Health updates - Winter Wellness and Stoptober

RBKC's Wellbeing Hub explores free or low-cost mental health and emotional wellbeing support in Kensington and Chelsea and some UK wide service and apps. 

Additionally, the INTERACT Study in partnership with Imperial College London explores how people feel about their social connections and aims to build a more inclusive and connected city, and survey participants are needed.

Creating effective video content on your phone with The Saltways

The Saltways have been running courses and one off classes on creating content, particularly video content, for non-profit organisations for a while now.

This free online workshop will show you how to create effective & high quality content on your phone.

The session will include: 

- Learning how to plan your films to get the best results possible.
- Learning technical tips on how to improve your footage and sound.
- Have an introduction into editing and how to build a campaign around your film.

Clinks State of the Sector Survey & Practical workshop training

We are sharing information about two resources connected to Clinks, which is the national infrastructure body supporting voluntary organisations working in the criminal justice system in England and Wales.

Firstly, their State of the Sector survey aims to build a picture of the experiences, challenges, and successes of the voluntary sector working alongside people in the criminal justice system. Organisations involved in criminal justice at any level are invited to contribute to the survey, which will provide evidence for Clinks to use to advocate for the sector. 

RBKC Culture Strategy Survey

The Council are looking for local insights on on whether the borough’s cultural activities meet your needs and interests, and how cultural services can further strengthen community cohesion and make opportunities accessible for all.

Cultural activities in the borough are provided by communities, the public and voluntary sectors, private enterprise and by the Council.

Take the Lead Grants for Community Projects

The Take the Lead programme is a new initiative that offers grants between £500 and £1,500 for projects, events, or activities that explore how data can support health and wellbeing within your local community.

The programme is designed to support community-led ideas and engage groups that are typically underrepresented in health data science, particularly those working with:

•    People disadvantaged in terms of income
•    Minority ethnic communities

Tips for engaging in policy work

Trust for London have shared their 5 tips for small frontline organisations looking to engage in policy work, featuring the case study of the journey of a London charity, Action for Refugees in Lewisham (AFRIL).

This resource aims to provide a source of advice for organisations who are struggling to balance strains on cost, capacity and staff wellbeing with frontline work, with 5 practical tips including investing in impact measurement to embedding policy in casework.

Every October, World Mental Health Day marks a reminder of the importance of mental health and the need for accessible support. This year's theme - Access to services in emergencies - shines a light on the importance of ensuring mental health support is available to everyone, especially during times of crisis.
